Overview

Are you a strategic, commercially driven hospitality leader with the vision and experience to lead a landmark resort in the Caribbean? Davidson Hospitality Group is seeking an accomplished Managing Director to lead The Westin Beach Resort & Spa at Frenchman’s Reef and Buoy Haus Beach Resort, Autograph Collection, in St. Thomas.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a complex resort destination and make a lasting impact on one of the island’s most significant hospitality operations. As the face of the resort and a prominent leader within the St. Thomas community, the Managing Director will oversee a large, diverse workforce, drive financial performance, strengthen market positioning, and deliver exceptional guest experiences across both Marriott-affiliated brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across both resorts, ensuring alignment with ownership objectives, Davidson Hospitality Group standards, and Marriott brand expectations.
  • Develop and execute long-term business strategies that drive revenue growth, profitability, market share, and sustainable asset performance.
  • Serve as the face of the resort and a visible leader in the St. Thomas community, cultivating strong relationships with local stakeholders, government representatives, business partners, and community organizations.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a large, diverse workforce, fostering accountability, employee engagement, and a culture of service excellence while navigating the unique workforce dynamics of an island destination.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of local culture and community expectations, applying thoughtful leadership to build credibility, strengthen relationships, and support organizational success.
  • Oversee all aspects of resort performance, including operations, rooms, food and beverage, sales and marketing, revenue management, finance, human resources, and engineering.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and financial analysis to maximize profitability while protecting the long-term value of the assets.
  • Assess market trends, competitive positioning, and evolving luxury and leisure travel demand to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation.
  • Navigate the logistical, staffing, supply chain, and operational complexities inherent in an island resort environment with resourcefulness and sound business judgment.
  • Build a strong leadership team, establish clear performance expectations, and develop future talent through coaching, succession planning, and accountability.
  • Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement while balancing the demands of a complex resort operation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Significant senior-level hospitality leadership experience, ideally as a Managing Director or General Manager of a large-scale, complex, full-service or luxury resort.
  • Prior island or Caribbean hospitality experience required, with a demonstrated understanding of island culture, local workforce dynamics, community relationships, and the operational realities of an island destination.
  • Experience leading complex operations, multiple outlets, diverse teams, and significant revenue and expense budgets.
  • Experience with a major hotel brand; Marriott brand experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of driving financial results, improving operational performance, and delivering strong guest satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and engage a large, diverse workforce in a demanding and dynamic operating environment.
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable plans and measurable results.
  • Exceptional financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue optimization, and capital planning.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to build productive relationships with ownership, brand partners, senior leadership, associates, and community stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Adaptable, resilient leadership style with the ability to balance big-picture strategy with hands-on operational execution.

Lead a Landmark Caribbean Destination

This is an opportunity for a proven hospitality executive to lead a high-profile resort destination, influence the broader island community, and shape the future of two distinctive Marriott-affiliated properties. If you bring the strategic perspective, cultural understanding, financial discipline, and leadership presence to succeed in a complex island environment, we invite you to explore this exceptional opportunity.
