Overview

This is a year-round position on Mackinac Island, MI. Housing Provided. 

 

The Director of Housing oversees all Housing Department operations, ensuring the success of the housing team and managing housing for 700 employees. 

 

The Director of Housing is responsible for:

  • Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of housing units, common areas, laundry facilities, and shared bathrooms, maintaining high standards of sanitation and presentation.
  • Oversee tenant housing assignments and respond to requests through the housing management system in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Utilize Davidson software to manage team scheduling and payroll administration for Housing staff.
  • Manage housing-related revenue, provide regular reporting to Accounting, and oversee supply ordering and inventory control.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with team member handbook policies.
  • Lead employee relations efforts within Housing, including conflict resolution. 
  • Plan and coordinate team member arrivals and departures to ensure a smooth housing transition process.
  • Partner with Engineering on maintenance operations and capital improvement projects, and collaborate with Security to maintain a safe housing environment.
  • Support recruitment, selection, training, and development of Housing team members.
  • Conduct regular housing inspections to ensure quality and compliance standards are met.
  • Assist with team member events and collaborate cross-functionally with Human Resources, Purchasing, Accounting, and local vendors.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative partner who works effectively across departments such as Engineering, Security, Human Resources, and Accounting, and can build strong relationships with external vendors. They are proactive, adaptable in a fast-paced environment and committed to continuous improvement. HR experience with employee relations is preferred. 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Hotel Management or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and employees.
  • 2+ years prior property management experience.
  • Read, write and speak English fluently.
  • The ability to communicate in Spanish is helpful.
  • Knowledge of inventories, scheduling, and productivity.
  • High school math level required.
