We are seeking a Director of Finance (Hotel Finance Leader / Hotel Controller) to oversee all financial operations for a 400-room, high-performing Marriott hotel in Overland Park, Kansas. This property consistently exceeds financial expectations and recently completed a full renovation, offering a strong operational foundation and forward momentum heading into 2026.

This role is ideal for a proven hotel finance leader ready to expand their impact, with the opportunity to step into a highly visible position supporting a successful, well-established team. You will work closely with hotel leadership to drive profitability, improve processes, and deliver accurate, timely financial insights that influence business decisions.

The Director of Finance will act as a strategic partner, while remaining hands-on in day-to-day financial operations. This position offers strong exposure to full-cycle hotel accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy within a Marriott-branded environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all hotel accounting and finance functions, including financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls
  • Own the budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning process to support revenue and profit goals
  • Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership
  • Partner with the General Manager and department leaders to drive profitability and operational performance
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, Marriott standards, and company policies
  • Oversee and develop a lean accounting team (AP and AR), fostering accountability and growth
  • Maintain accuracy across financial systems, including PMS and financial reporting platforms
  • Support ownership reporting, audits, and capital planning initiatives
  • Strengthen processes and controls in a decentralized accounting environment
  • Stay actively engaged in systems such as BirchStreet, Workday (transitioning from M3), and other hotel finance tools

Why This Role

  • High-performing, financially successful Marriott hotel with strong 2025 results and positive 2026 outlook
  • Recently renovated property with continued investment and growth opportunities
  • Backed by a supportive and reputable ownership group
  • Opportunity to step into a visible leadership role with direct impact on business strategy
  • Hands-on environment with exposure to both operational and strategic finance
  • Collaborative, team-first culture with experienced hotel leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in hotel finance, hospitality accounting, or financial leadership roles
  • Experience in a Marriott, strongly preferred
  • Background in roles such as Assistant Director of Finance, Hotel Controller, or Senior Accountant
  • Strong knowledge of hotel financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes
  • Experience working with hotel systems (PMS, BirchStreet, Workday, or similar platforms)
  • Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for operations teams
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
