The Westin Frenchman’s Reef | St. Thomas, USVI

Are you a strategic, hands-on HR leader ready to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, multi-property resort environment? The Westin Frenchman’s Reef is seeking a high-level Complex Director of Human Resources to serve as a trusted partner to leadership, strengthen management capability, and drive accountability across the organization.

This role is ideal for an experienced hospitality HR leader who excels at developing leaders, building strong cultures, and holding teams accountable to high standards. Leadership development is a key priority for this property, and this role will play a critical part in shaping the future of our management team and overall associate experience.

Position Summary

The Complex Director of Human Resources will lead and oversee all HR functions across the resort, acting as a strategic advisor to the Steering team while maintaining a strong, visible presence with managers and associates. This leader will drive talent strategy, elevate leadership capability, and ensure HR practices support both operational excellence and long-term organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all human resources functions, including recruitment, talent management, employee relations, compliance, and HR programs across the complex

  • Serve as a strategic partner to senior leaders, coaching managers to develop their teams, drive accountability, and strengthen leadership effectiveness

  • Design and implement leadership development initiatives that build bench strength and support succession planning

  • Drive performance management practices that promote accountability, continuous improvement, and results

  • Develop and execute strategies to attract, develop, and retain top hospitality talent in a competitive market

  • Champion employee engagement initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations

  • Provide guidance and support to leaders and associates on complex employee relations matters

  • Stay current on HR best practices, labor trends, and hospitality-specific challenges to continuously enhance HR effectiveness

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; minimum of 4 years of progressive HR experience (hotel or resort experience strongly preferred)

  • Proven background in employee relations, recruiting, retention, and employment law

  • Strong working knowledge of EEO, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and other applicable employment regulations

  • Demonstrated success developing leaders and holding management teams accountable

  • Experience leading employee engagement, performance management, and talent development initiatives

  • Ability to effectively advise property leadership within the legal framework of the jurisdiction

  • Experience working with a diverse workforce in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and sound judgment

  • Ability to remain flexible and composed in a constantly evolving environment

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred

  • Affirmative Action experience a plus
