Overview

The Coffee Shop Manager oversees daily operations, manages staff, ensures excellent customer service, and maintains inventory and financial records. Ensures compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards. Safeguards high standards of food and beverage quality, service and marketing to maximize profits and insure outstanding customer service. Interviews, trains, supervises, coaches, schedules, and manages staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Operations: Oversee the daily functioning of the coffee shop, coffee cart and coffee operations ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Staff Management: Hire, train, and schedule staff, including baristas and support personnel, to maintain optimal service levels.
  • Customer Service: Foster a welcoming environment, address customer complaints, and ensure high-quality service.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage vendor relationships to ensure product availability.
  • Financial Oversight: Track daily sales, manage budgets, review labor costs, manage payroll and analyze financial performance to drive profitability.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that all health and safety regulations are met, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Menu Development: Work with culinary team to update and develop menus based on customer feedback and seasonal availability.
  • Marketing Initiatives: Implement local marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
  • Partnerships: Maintain strong relationships and serve as Emery’s point person with FairWave Specialty Coffee Collective and other relevant coffee shop partners.  

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead and motivate a team, ensuring efficient operations and a positive work environment.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with customers and resolve issues promptly.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience in managing budgets, tracking expenses, and analyzing sales data.
  • Product Knowledge: Understanding of coffee preparation techniques and beverage offerings to educate staff and customers.
  • Experience: Previous experience in the food and beverage industry, preferably in a managerial role.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of restaurant, retail, or guest service management experience and or combined experience and education.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week). This role often entails overview hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and tools as they are introduced to support the business.
  • ServSafe certification or ability to receive a certificate within 90 days of employment
  • Keen aptitude for systems including Toast, Micros, Workday, Hotel Effectiveness, Birchstreet and other purchasing and/or metric driven systems.

Salary Range

USD $60,000.00 - USD $70,000.00 /Yr.
