Overview

The Complex Director of Human Resources is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, guidance, and hands-on operational support of the Human Resources function, overseeing two premier properties in the US Virgin Islands. This role is central to establishing and strengthening the brand culture and organizational effectiveness across the complex.

The strategic focus is multifaceted, starting with Talent Acquisition, where the Director is tasked with building the brand locally, regionally, and internationally, developing a social media presence, and streamlining sourcing to maintain a balanced mix of talent. This aligns directly with Organizational Effectiveness & Policy, which involves steering strategic direction, developing, and implementing necessary policies and procedures for sustainable colleague engagement and operational effectiveness, while ensuring key HR metrics/scorecards are measured and managed effectively.

Additionally, the role is expected to drive Talent Management & Engagement by collaborating with the HR team to plan and guide the property’s culture and service training, driving the internal communication strategy, overseeing performance management, and leading engagement surveys and initiatives to promote a positive, trustworthy work environment. The Director must also champion Talent Development by overseeing the Learning & Development function, ensuring alignment between training effectiveness, driving succession planning, and providing leadership coaching. The strategic oversight extends to Compensation & Benefits, where the Director oversees total rewards for all colleagues, utilizing market data to determine the compensation and benefits program.

The Complex Director of Human Resources is expected to provide direct leadership and hands-on expertise to the HR department and the broader organization. This includes HR Department Supervision, where the Director directly manages a team, leading the development of department goals, objectives, and systems while ensuring the HR division works cohesively with seamless implementation of initiatives between HR administration and L&D. This leadership must be balanced with hands-on operational support & Compliance, coordinating and directing all day-to-day HR activities, including coaching, counseling, training, new hire orientation, maintaining personnel files, and overseeing all employee relations and labor matters. This is critical for ensuring legal compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, limiting liabilities, and promoting a safe, fair, and positive work environment. The Director also serves as a strong Leadership Partner, working closely with the leadership team to communicate HR policies, procedures, programs, and laws, and actively participating in guidance and management meetings. Crucially, the Director acts as the advocate for all team members, ensuring that HR standard operating procedures are executed with the highest level of integrity and due consideration for fairness.
