Overview

Ready to apply your proven turnaround expertise to a high-profile transformation?  Davidson Hospitality Group is seeking a dynamic General Manager to take the helm of the Sheraton Memphis Downtown as it undergoes a bold, two-year reinvention that will reshape the future of Memphis’s convention district. This large-scale project includes:

  • Full guestroom and suite renovations using the latest Marriott design concepts with modern aesthetics, intuitive layouts, and enhanced technology integration.

  • Complete replacement of all FF&E to meet Marriott’s elevated brand standards.

  • Reimagined public spaces, including a fully redesigned lobby featuring the Marriott Great Room concept.

  • Extensive exterior upgrades, including full or partial façade enhancements to both the North and South Towers.

  • New meeting and event facilities to elevate group and convention business.

  • A two-year renovation timeline driven by significant upgrades to critical infrastructure throughout the property.

Responsibilities

Transformation & Repositioning Leadership

  • Lead the pre-opening, repositioning strategy, and relaunch of the Sheraton Memphis Downtown.

  • Partner with ownership, Marriott brand teams, and renovation partners throughout all phases of the project.

  • Champion the guest journey to ensure every touchpoint reflects the elevated Marriott brand promise.

  • Navigate the property's transition during active construction while maintaining service levels and guest satisfaction.

Operational Excellence & Team Leadership

  • Build, inspire, and develop a high-performance leadership team focused on operational excellence and exceptional service.

  • Foster a culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, guest-centricity, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure operational readiness for relaunch, including SOP updates, training, and brand compliance.

Commercial Strategy & Community Engagement

  • Drive commercial performance through revenue management, marketing, and sales strategy.

  • Strengthen the hotel’s visibility and relationships within the convention district and the broader Memphis community.

  • Serve as the property’s ambassador during the transformation, representing the hotel with confidence and professionalism.

Financial & Brand Stewardship

  • Provide strong financial leadership throughout renovation-related fluctuations and changing business dynamics.

  • Deliver on brand standards, owner expectations, and renovation milestones with precision and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field
  • Proven success in full-service hotels, ideally with Marriott experience 
  • Seasoned hotel executive with multi-phase renovation or repositioning experience
  • Strategic thinker with very strong financial acumen and proven success in managing budgets, revenue, and expenses
  • Charismatic leader who thrives in transformational environments and inspires teams to exceed expectations
  • Deep understanding of guest-centric design, technology, and service innovation
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills; ability to communicate effectively with your team, Davidson, and ownership
  • Ability to think strategically and drive results
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences
