Overview

The Controller supervises and directs the financial activities of the hotel including AP, AR, credit and collections, payroll, cash management, internal controls, auditing, general ledger, financial statements, taxes, and budgeting.  The Controller safeguards the assets and prepares all financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.   Qualified candidate must be able to implement and monitor internal controls, be familiar with all aspects of accounting department (night audit, accounts receivable/payable, general cashier and payroll), prepare budgets and forecasts, must be computer literate and have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.  Also serves as a financial advisor of the Hotel Management team and Ownership

Responsibilities

  • Constantly. Assures property operations meet internal audit standards.
  • Constantly. Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire employees to meet and exceed standards.
  • Constantly. Direct the development and implementation of internal control to ensure the security of Davidson assets and the accurate recording of assets, liabilities, income, expenses, and other transactions.
  • Constantly. Maintain work area neat and organized.
  • Constantly. Promote employee empowerment.
  • Constantly. Report all unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Constantly. Select, train, schedule, supervise, discipline, and counsel employees according to Davidson policies and procedures.
  • Frequently. Assist in directing the preparation of the annual budget and subsequent forecasts.
  • Frequently. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Frequently. Perform in the capacity of any position supervised.
  • Frequently. Supervise the financial statement preparation and account reconciliation.
  • Occasionally. Assist external and internal auditors.
  • Occasionally. Attend all mandatory meetings.
  • Occasionally. Conduct performance appraisals.
  • Occasionally. Responsible for updating and maintaining the data processing equipment and computerized systems.
  • Occasionally.  Other duties as assigned by GM.

Qualifications

•           BA or BS degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience

•           5+ years of experience in the industry preferred

•           Required statistics math level

•           Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other Team Members

•           High attention to detail and strong time management skills
