Overview

The Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort is undergoing an exciting transformation to become The Sunny. We are seeking an Engineering Manager to ensure our property operates seamlessly and maintains the highest standards of safety and efficiency.


The Engineering Manager will oversee all aspects of the hotel's engineering operations, including maintenance, repair, and energy management. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage a team while ensuring guest satisfaction and compliance with safety regulations.

 

The future Sunny in the heart of Sunny Isles Beach is poised to redefine the beach getaway experience offering a perfect blend of rich history and unparalleled amenities. The resort will feature 339 spacious guest rooms, an eclectic private art collection, six food and beverage outlets, a fitness center, spa & salon, ocean-front pool with tiki bar and fire pits, beach club, and over 22,000 square feet of event space, including a unique oceanfront terrace. 

Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

  • Prepare reports and documentation for departmental meetings and audits.
  • Assist with budget tracking and procurement of engineering materials and supplies.
  • Facilitate communication between the engineering department and other hotel departments.
  • Manage daily administrative tasks and support the engineering management team.
  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance requests, work orders, and inventory management
  • Prepare and update PowerPoint presentation for lineup daily
  • Assist with Hotsos reports and administer Hotsos system for engineering
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies and safety regulations.
  • Receive and inspect all incoming shipments for quality and accuracy against purchase orders.
  • Organize and maintain the storeroom, ensuring items are stored properly and are easily accessible.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist in reordering supplies to prevent shortages.
  • Distribute materials and equipment to engineering staff as requested.
  • Perform regular inventory audits and assist with month-end inventory reconciliation.
  • Compliance with safety and sanitation standards in the storeroom and storage areas.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks related to inventory management as needed.

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

 

  • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or in a similar leadership role within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in energy management and sustainability practices is a plus.
  • Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred.
