What You’ll Do:

  • Lead & Inspire: Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of talented event sales managers and coordinators to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Strategize & Grow: Develop and implement strategic sales initiatives to maximize revenue opportunities, drawing on both the hotel’s meeting space and the adjacent Statehouse Convention Center.
  • Build Relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and local partners. Be a trusted advisor to ensure repeat business and long-term loyalty.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with the marketing and operations teams to create compelling event packages and promotional campaigns.
  • Client Experience Champion: From initial inquiry to event execution, ensure a seamless and extraordinary experience for clients and guests.
  • Keep an Eye on the Big Picture: Analyze market trends and competitive positioning to drive strategic decisions and ensure the property’s continued success as a top event venue.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in event sales or related leadership roles, ideally within a high-volume convention hotel or convention center.
  • Proven Sales Skills: Track record of successfully meeting and exceeding sales goals.
  • Leadership Qualities: Strong management skills with an ability to inspire and cultivate a positive team culture.
  • Exceptional Communication: Outstanding ability to build rapport and convey ideas effectively.

Responsibilities

As the Director of Event Sales, you’ll drive revenue by selling and servicing events for in-house groups and external clients. You’ll lead with creativity and precision, orchestrating every detail from menu planning to contract negotiation to ensure flawless execution.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Craft and implement innovative sales strategies targeting key market segments.
  • Provide swift responses to sales inquiries and cultivate lasting relationships with potential and existing clients.
  • Prospect new business and maintain existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals.
  • Utilize social media and networking platforms (like LinkedIn) to connect with prospective clients.
  • Conduct site inspections and host potential clients to showcase our venue’s capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to design tailored event menus that maximize profitability.
  • Oversee the execution of events, ensuring flawless coordination with hotel staff.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in hospitality sales (with a minimum of 2 years preferred).
  • Proven expertise in event planning and banquet sales.
  • Strong negotiation skills and contract management experience.
  • Exceptional communication abilities (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hospitality CRM systems (e.g., Delphi, CI/TY).
  • Leadership and time management skills to handle multiple projects effectively.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and/or 2+ years of hotel sales experience.

· 1 year food and beverage experience.

· Strong understanding of negotiation and interpretation of contracts.

· Developed business communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Understanding/knowledge of Microsoft office.

· Confident and professional appearance.

· Proactive sales approach, assertive and fast paced, driven to succeed.

· Execute and support Hotel Customer Service Standards and Hotel’s Brand Standards.

· Understanding of respective market segment, competitor’s strengths, weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand.

· Work well under pressure.

· Time management skills. Being able to work on multiple projects with desired outcome for each.

· Ability to communicate effectively with public and other employees.

· Creativity in designing events.

· Working knowledge of banquet department (sets, AV equipment, scheduling, menu planning).

· Ability to design menus in conjunction with the culinary department to maximize operating profit.

· Experience with major Hospitality Sales CRM system, i.e. Delphi, Daylight and/or brand CRM such as Marriott CI/TY or Starwood ISAC is preferred.
